Description

Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 10mm Diameter

Natural PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance engineering polymer designed for applications requiring reliable operation under extreme temperatures and exposure to aggressive chemicals. Its exceptionally low friction makes it suitable for components that need smooth movement, while its strong electrical insulation properties support specialist technical uses.

Key Features

  • Wide Temperature Tolerance: Operates from -260°C to +260°C, with short-term exposure possible up to +300°C.
  • Low-Friction Surface: Helps minimise resistance between moving components.
  • Chemical Durability: Resists many acids, corrosive substances and chemical reactions.
  • Electrical Insulation: High electrical resistivity supports demanding insulation applications.
  • Moisture and UV Resistance: Absorbs very little moisture and offers resistance to ultraviolet exposure.
  • Thermal Stability: Features a melting point of approximately 327°C.
  • Food-Contact Potential: Non-toxic PTFE grades may be suitable for food-related applications when relevant compliance requirements are met.

Applications

The 10mm diameter rod can be used to manufacture seals, plain bearings, gears, sliding components and parts for cryogenic equipment. Its electrical characteristics also make it suitable for specialised electret applications. Compared with nylon and acetal, PTFE offers lower friction but is generally softer and more costly. UHMWPE may provide better wear resistance in applications involving sustained abrasion.
