Description

Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 120mm Diameter

The 120mm Natural PTFE Plastic Rod is a specialist thermoplastic stock material suited to engineering projects involving aggressive chemicals, temperature extremes and demanding electrical requirements. Manufactured from Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), it offers a naturally smooth surface that helps reduce drag and friction in components exposed to repeated movement.

Its excellent thermal stability allows operation between -260°C and +260°C, with brief exposure up to +300°C. The material also provides strong resistance to acids, corrosion, UV radiation and moisture absorption. Combined with its high electrical resistivity, these properties make PTFE a versatile choice for specialised industrial equipment and mechanical assemblies.

Key Features

  • Material: Natural Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
  • Diameter: 120mm.
  • Melting Point: Approximately 327°C.
  • Hardness: Shore D.
  • Temperature Resistance: -260°C to +260°C, up to +300°C for short periods.
  • Low Friction: Supports smooth movement between contacting surfaces.
  • Chemical Resistance: Withstands many acids and corrosive substances.
  • Electrical Insulation: Excellent insulating performance and high bulk resistivity.
  • Additional Properties: UV resistant, thermally stable and low in moisture absorption.
  • Material Characteristics: Relatively soft, dense and more expensive than nylon or acetal.

Applications

  • Manufacturing low-friction bushings for rotating machinery.
  • Producing sliding plates and wear-resistant guide elements.
  • Fabricating sealing parts for chemical handling systems.
  • Constructing components for low-temperature processing equipment.
  • Creating insulating parts for electrical assemblies.
  • Developing electret devices for specialist electrostatic applications.
