Description

Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 80mm Diameter

Natural PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance polymer developed for specialist engineering environments where conventional plastics may not provide sufficient resistance. Its exceptionally smooth surface allows moving parts to operate with minimal friction, while its excellent electrical properties make it suitable for applications involving demanding insulation requirements.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Thermal Performance: Maintains its properties across temperatures from -260°C to +260°C, with brief exposure up to +300°C.
  • Chemical Protection: Resists a wide range of acids, aggressive chemicals and corrosive substances.
  • Electrical Insulation: Offers high electrical resistivity for specialist technical applications.
  • Surface Characteristics: Its naturally slippery surface helps reduce friction between contacting components.
  • Moisture Resistance: Has very low moisture absorption.
  • UV Stability: Provides resistance to ultraviolet exposure.
  • Melting Point: Approximately 327°C.
  • Material Properties: Relatively soft and heavier than many engineering plastics, with a higher cost than nylon and acetal.

Applications

The 80mm diameter PTFE rod is suitable for producing:

  • Industrial Bearings: Components requiring smooth rotation and reduced friction.
  • Mechanical Gears: Parts used in specialised moving assemblies.
  • Sealing Elements: Seals exposed to chemical or temperature extremes.
  • Cryogenic Equipment: Components operating in extremely cold environments.
  • Electrical Insulators: Parts requiring high electrical resistivity.
  • Electrets: Specialist components used in electrostatic applications.
