Description

Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 22mm Diameter

Natural PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a specialised engineering material used in applications where chemical durability, electrical insulation and reliable performance under extreme conditions are important. Its exceptionally low surface friction helps reduce resistance between contacting parts, making it suitable for mechanical assemblies and precision-engineered components.

Key Features

  • Extreme Temperature Capability: Suitable for operating temperatures between -260°C and +260°C, with brief exposure up to +300°C.
  • Chemical Compatibility: Provides resistance to many acids, aggressive chemicals and corrosive environments.
  • Electrical Insulation: High bulk resistivity makes it useful in specialist electrical equipment and electret production.
  • Low Water Absorption: Takes up minimal moisture, supporting consistent performance in suitable environments.
  • Weather Resistance: Offers protection against UV exposure and chemical degradation.
  • Thermal Characteristics: Has a melting point of approximately 327°C.
  • Material Comparison: Softer and generally more expensive than nylon and acetal, with excellent sliding properties but lower wear resistance than UHMWPE in many applications.

Applications

The 22mm diameter PTFE rod can be used to manufacture mechanical seals, plain bearings, gears and sliding elements. It is also suitable for selected cryogenic systems and electrical insulation components. Its combination of low friction and chemical resistance makes it valuable for equipment operating in demanding industrial environments.
