Description

Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 70mm Diameter

Natural PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is an engineering-grade polymer designed for applications requiring dependable performance in chemically aggressive surroundings and extreme thermal conditions. Its exceptionally low coefficient of friction makes it useful for reducing drag in mechanical systems, while its excellent dielectric properties support specialised electrical applications.

Key Features

  • Temperature Performance: Suitable for continuous working temperatures from -260°C to +260°C, with brief exposure up to +300°C.
  • Resistance to Chemicals: Withstands many acids and corrosive substances without significant chemical degradation.
  • Electrical Insulation: High bulk resistivity makes PTFE suitable for demanding insulating applications.
  • Minimal Moisture Uptake: Absorbs very little water, helping preserve its material characteristics.
  • UV Protection: Offers resistance to ultraviolet exposure.
  • Heat Stability: Has a melting point of approximately 327°C.
  • Smooth Operation: Its slippery surface supports movement between contacting parts with minimal friction.
  • Material Characteristics: PTFE is relatively soft, dense and costly compared with nylon and acetal. UHMWPE may be more suitable when abrasion resistance is the priority.

Applications

The 70mm diameter rod can be used to produce larger seals, plain bearings, gears and low-friction machine components. It is also suitable for selected cryogenic equipment and specialised electrical devices, including electrets. Its combination of chemical resistance and thermal performance makes it useful in demanding industrial systems. Food-contact suitability depends on the supplied grade meeting applicable regulatory requirements.
