Description
Natural PTFE Plastic Rod 65mm Diameter
Natural PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a versatile engineering polymer suited to demanding industrial environments where conventional materials may struggle with chemical exposure, temperature extremes or electrical requirements. Its naturally slippery surface helps minimise friction between contacting components, while its high electrical resistivity makes it valuable for specialised technical applications.
Key Features
- Broad Operating Range: Performs at temperatures from -260°C to +260°C, with short-term exposure up to +300°C.
- Chemical Stability: Resists many acids, corrosive agents and chemical reactions.
- Electrical Properties: Provides excellent insulation and supports specialist electret manufacturing.
- Low Moisture Absorption: Takes up minimal water, making it suitable for applications where moisture uptake is undesirable.
- UV Resistance: Offers resistance to ultraviolet exposure.
- Thermal Performance: Features a melting point of approximately 327°C.
- Low-Friction Surface: Helps components slide smoothly with reduced resistance.
- Material Considerations: PTFE is relatively soft, heavy and generally more expensive than nylon or acetal. UHMWPE may offer greater wear resistance in abrasive applications.
Applications
The 65mm diameter rod is suitable for manufacturing larger mechanical components, including plain bearings, gears, seals and sliding parts. It can also be used in cryogenic equipment and specialist electrical applications where its insulating properties are beneficial.
